ISHA VIDHYA - EDUCATING RURAL INDIA
Published by Sudhakar Ram on Tue, 08/12/2009 - 02:54

India's rural youth have the potential to contribute to and share in the growth of their country. Yet due to low-quality education, many young Indians graduate from school without the basic skill sets necessary to gain employment and pursue higher education.
Isha Vidhya was founded as a means for transforming the lives of rural children by providing affordable, high-quality education where it is otherwise unavailable. Over the coming years, Isha Vidhya will set up 206 schools in villages across the south Indian state of Tamil Nadu. The schools are designed to build confident, English-speaking, computer-adept youth, on par with students from good urban schools. Students will graduate prepared to pursue higher education and employment in the best colleges and corporate institutions.
Isha Vidhya functions on a grass-roots level, relying on community involvement and the support of innumerable volunteers and donors. Through this website, we invite you to learn more about Isha Vidhya and join us in our efforts to empower the rural youth of India!
